Accomplishments
Proven Leadership. Policy-Driven Results.
Since being elected to the City Council, Anthony has applied the rigorous, data-driven training he received at the Schar School to solve real-world problems for Fairfax families. Here is what we have accomplished together:
- Strengthening the “Town-Gown” Connection: Anthony has been a leading voice in deepening the partnership between the City of Fairfax and George Mason University, ensuring our local economy benefits from the innovation and energy of the Mason community. This includes organizing the Homecoming City Crawl partnership to celebrate the anniversary of the Final Four Appearance and a Poetry Night for Spotlight on the Arts to celebrate local poets.
- Supporting Our Children: Knowing the challenges facing families today, Anthony directed the city to expand affordable childcare through reforms such as simplifying the home daycare permitting process and exploring childcare contract options for public meetings and community events. Additionally, he is coordinating with the state’s Invest529 program to create a localized Kindergarten to College Fund, the first of its kind in Virginia. Also, he coordinated the Hire-a-Lion Job Fair at Fairfax High School in partnership with the Fairfax Forward Foundation.
- Championing Creative Affordability: Recognizing the rising cost of living, Anthony proposed and supported “Creative Affordability” initiatives, including championing the passage of the city’s first-ever Affordability and Housing Strategic Plan while seeking dedicated funding for affordable housing development and preservation.
- Empowering Small Businesses: From streamlining the business permit process to supporting innovation loan funds to expanded tourism dollars, Anthony has worked to cut the red tape that holds back our local entrepreneurs and small business owners while redirecting funds to support them.
- Environmental Stewardship: Anthony helped spearhead the push for preserving the SPROUT grant, supported the city’s Urban Forest Master Plan and the CECAP Program, and intends to support onboarding a Climate and Energy Manager.
- Fiscal Responsibility & Transparency: By leveraging his Master of Public Policy (MPP) background, Anthony has brought a meticulous eye to the city budget, ensuring your tax dollars are spent effectively and transparently. This includes launching the Budget Open House program, directing the creation of the Civic Connections program, advocating for the city’s first Community Survey, implementing cost recovery strategies, and leading the city’s first Public-Private Education Facilities and Infrastructure Act (PPEA) project for the Fire Station #3 redevelopment.
